For those of you who would like to experience Adobe Photoshop, without having to fork over a small fortune, there's the free downsized version, which has just been updated, and improved.

There are plenty of low cost and even free, high quality, digital graphics programs out there, but Adobe's Photoshop has always been the standard bearer because it can do just about anything a digital photographer wants.

There's a new type of software being developed that is web based and can be used on all operating systems which cuts down on actual manufacturing and distribution costs.

I've often said that I don't understand the way big business operates and here's another example of why.

Canon has an unusual trade in program that allows owners of older Canon digital cameras to upgrade to a few of their more upscale, out of production, digital cameras.

What's unusual to me is that the program is not being advertised and your trade in does not have to be in working condition.

They will even accept a Canon S10 and $275.00 towards a refurbished Rebel XT and lens kit.

I saw a Canon s10 on eBay going for 2 bucks just now. It might be worth buying a similar camera just to qualify for the program because you're not going to find a digital Rebel, used, much less refurbished to new, for $275.00.

The article I saw said you had to provide the serial number so I don't know if the trade in had to be previously registered by the person who wants to trade in.

A call to Canon can get an answer to that question.

We've already covered the question of whether or not the number of mega pixels is the most important feature to look for in a digital camera.

However, the topic merits a second look, along with certain other digital camera features that seem impressive but in reality may be nothing more than advertising fluff.

Digital cameras, as well as any other product a consumer may be shopping for, should always be selected on the basis of what you need in a particular product.

Advertising firms emphasize features and performance when trying to sell digital cameras but it is up to the consumer to decide which of these “features” they really need.

Many of today's crop of digital cameras have loads of features, many of which are great, such as anti-shake, but do you really need or want “face recognition?”

Be careful not to get derailed by huge numbers, and don't fall for a camera that's feature rich and performance poor, because you'll be disappointed.

By the way the camera pictured above is a 160 million mega pixel digital camera; get out your credit card!

What a coincidence. I came across an article about, and a blog for exactly what I posted about a few days ago, getting more creative with your digital photography.

The posting had to do with, specifically, printing your pictures on canvas, but in fact the thrust of the post was to encourage you to be more creative and “artsy” with yourdigital camera!

The blog, “We Can't Paint”, by Jessica Eaton, who took that great picture on this post, is loaded with great advice and ideas, and some outstanding digital photographs.

I encourage you to study the work of other photographers; particularly those who are better than you. After all this is what fine artists have always done for inspiration.
