More Free Adobe Photoshop Tutorials

Posted by admin on July 8th, 2008 filed in Uncategorized

photoshopgrungylook10.jpg

As complex as Adobe's Photoshop is it can always get a bit more complicated with the addition of 3rd party plugins and add-ons.

But that's part of the fun, especially for amateurs who want to experiment with different ways of presenting their digital images.

As a frustrated artist I enjoy manipulating images without the expense, mess, and bother of artist's paints and canvas, which I'll leave to those who have the talent to make something worthwhile.

But, I'm no expert with Photoshop and I rely on other people who have the expertise to figure out how to use the features of this sophisticated program to bring about the effects I want to emulate.

So, I look for tutorials and then pass the best of them on to you.

Here's how to use Photoshop for a haunted, grungy look.

This tutorial shows you how to use Photoshop blending modes and opacities for stand out effects.

Digital Baby Photos

Taking baby pictures is something I haven't done very often and, in fact, the last time I did it was with a film camera.

So it's time to check out what others are doing with their digital cameras and babies.

The article I found has quite a few very innovative ideas in it including the use of “macro” for baby pictures.

Now I know that babies are tiny, but I never would have thought of using the macro setting for people pictures, but this digital photographer has some great ideas for using macro.

Check out this article about digital baby pictures and then find, or make a baby, and try these techniques.

It should be fun.

Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you'll find a picture somewhere.

It seems computers can do most anything with an image now a days. So why bother with all those cumbersome filters? The answer is that most of them are still superior to the techniques used with a computer. Plus, if the image is more accurate coming out of the camera, less time [...]

Summer Portraiture: Practical Technique

It’s now almost July, and just because the weather outside is frightfully bright (for those in the Northern Hemisphere) doesn’t mean that you have to cancel all of your portrait photography. But taking advantage of the clear skies doesn’t mean that you have to shoot in broad daylight either. If you want the best light for [...]

Shoot Some Fireworks With Your Digital Camera

Posted by admin on July 2nd, 2008 filed in Uncategorized

fireworks.jpg

Taking pictures of fireworks displays with film cameras was a tricky assignment and something greatly misunderstood by many amateurs.

One would have thought that fast film and long telephoto lenses would do the trick, when actually the opposite is true, unless the display was a long distance off. Fireworks photos come out best when you're up close and use short focal lengths, no more than 75mm equivalent, in my opinion.

Of course with digital cameras most of the guesswork is taken out of the equation; especially if your camera has a “fireworks” setting or program.

Check out these useful tips for taking great photos of great digital camera photos of fireworks.
